what is your preferred source of performance data for HVAC equipment - coordinated COPs, curves, etc? EnergyPlus’ built-in data sets are quite dated and don’t include VRV.
Thanks!

What I actually do most of the time: For smaller equipment, use software default curves and maybe test a couple of them. I’ll do a bit of searching online for publicly available COP ranges, etc. For larger plant equipment, I always reach out to manufacturers to get equipment specific curves.
What I should do (for the small equipment) in run a bunch of sensitivities and rated COPs and report a range, especially for things like VRF which historically have been difficult to get curves for and are likely overstated.
For chiller curves, you can see Appendix J in 90.1-2022 or 90.1-2025. It has path A and B sets of curve for the chillers needed for baselines/budgets. These same curves are also available as Standard 205 files.
I just learned of Standard 205 recently, and I was wondering if there was visibility into when the heating side will be integrated into EnergyPlus? I believe that as of v26.1, only chillers are supported.
I have not heard of any more Standard 205 enhancements being planned for EnergyPlus.
Thanks, Jason. That’s a nice resource.
