I participated in this seminar at the ASHRAE meeting in Las Vegas Feb 2026. #ashrae #hospital #eui #ashrae2026 #decarbonization #sustainability #energyefficiency #ashraewinterconference #energybenchmarking #healthcareenergy | David Eldridge

The talks there referred to our work at GBA on hospital energy and water benchmarking, the second presentation focused on ASHE’s data, and then the third presenter was from a Canadian perspective.

I just did a review of a hospital prototype and gathered a bunch of reports. Some of the more useful may be:

Burpee, H., Peterson, N. (UW Architecture), “Impacts of Building Envelope Options on Hospital Energy Performance,” Proceedings of the 10th Annual Advanced Building Skins
Conference. Bern, Switzerland. November 3-4, 2015.

Burpee, H., McDade, E. (UW MArch student), “Comparative Analysis of Hospital Energy Use: Pacific Northwest and Scandinavia,” Health Environments Research & Design Journal (HERD), 8(1), 20-44. Fall 2014. There is a final report also that may have additional information.

Sustainable Healthcare Architecture by Robin Guenther is a good book and has has lots of links.

Of course, “recent” is a relative term for all of these.
